Let's face it, boredom is hard on anyone and we do things we know we shouldn't when we are dealing with boredom. Having nothing to do is like an outer depression. What do we do when we are depressed... pout, fuss, eat! Same things we tend to do when we are bored. Oh ya, I forgot to mention spending money that we probably shouldn't and usually on items that will only give us momentary gratification. Boredom is dangerous. The thing I've learned about boredom is that it really isn't having nothing to do. Boredom is not having anything you WANT to do! There is always something that can be done or even needs to be done, problem is that we don't FEEL like doing that. Not many want to spend the day doing dishes and cleaning the house. Or maybe it's pulling weeds that Needs to be done and you simply don't Want to do it.Turn some music on, get out of infront of the television and get busy. You will feel better physically and emotionally, that is a promise. The problem most of us have is that we sit and feed the idea of boredom. I don't think anyone but maybe a child has said I want to bring the trash cans in... as adults we say I don't want the front to look bad so I'll have to bring the trash cans in. Looks to me like it's perspective. Adults see things very differently from children, the difference between adults and children is the kids have not had the many years of negative input that has changed our thought patterns. |
